Swansea Bay Film Festival in Wales — June 5 at the IBIS Hotel

Posted in Latest News on March 19th, 2007

SNW plays the Swansea Bay Film Festival in Wales, our first international screening. We screen Wednesday, June 6 at the IBIS Hotel. Here’s the link — http://www.swanseafilmfestival.com/categories.htm. It’s a bit confusing as to when the the movie actually screens. All it says is that screenings start at 10am, and there are about a dozen films (some shorts, some features) before ours, so your guess is as good as mine. 7pm? Best to check with the festival as June approaches. They might firm up the screening times.

“Scared New World” jumps the pond!

Just when we thought SNW was winding down its festival run, two more acceptances have come from out of the blue. The Davis Film Festival (April 5-7) has invited us to screen (special thanks to Galen Howard for the recommendation), and the Swansea Bay Film Festival (June 1-10), located in South Wales, has also accepted us as well. This will be our European premiere. Times and exact dates to come as soon as we get them.

SNW on DVD

Posted in Latest News on October 31st, 2006

So the day is here — “Scared New World” is on DVD and officially for sale! Our little film has made its festival run, running from Mill Valley and San Jose, passing through Omaha and kissing the ground of Rhode Island, along with various places in between. We even won “Best Feature” at the Pacific Edge Film Festival in Davis, CA. A new movie is in the works, and hopefully in festivals in the upcoming year, but for now we wanted to make “Scared New World” available to everyone.

The cost $15 ($12 plus $3 tax and shipping) and you can buy it through the website. THERE IS A LIMITED SUPPLY.

Please support local independent filmmaking, the government does not subsidize this kind of thing. Once we lose all the artist’s voices, then you’ll really feel the brunt of reality TV (if you haven’t already). Also, it’s just about time to start buying holiday gifts! Thanks for your support.

The month of May brought top honors from the Pacific Edge Film Festival in Davis, CA. The festival, featuring “works that locate themselves within the dynamic culture of the Pacific U.S. states and territories,” bestowed the award of “Best Feature Length Film” to our modest little indie flick. The unexpected award came with a cash prize and plaque. Many thanks to festival director Aaron DiFranco for putting on a tightly run festival and for the high praise he has given our film. See you next year, Aaron!

Just returned from a succesful trip in Omaha, where I met some great locals and tried some divine tequila. Kudos to Jeremy Decker and the rest of the crew in Omaha (especially Marc Longbrake) for putting on a first year festival that rivals most established ones.

Check out the “Reviews” section for our review in the Omaha City Weekly Reader. To read the full review, go to http://www.omahacityweekly.com/article.php?id=736.

While we’re waiting on word from other fests, our next scheduled appearance is in September in Estes Park, Colorado, also known as the gateway to the Rockies!

SNW in Omaha

We’re happy to announce that SNW will be making it’s out-of-California debut at the Omaha Film Festival (March-23-26). Dates are yet to be determined, but the filmmakers are frantically figuring out airfare feasibility. This is the festival’s first year, and it seems to have a lot of backing from the city.
